Dr Eran Politzer

 Dr. Eran Politzer is an Assistant Professor in the School of Public Policy and Governance at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School.

His research focuses on health insurance markets with regulated competition, examining how insurers manage costs, the impact of insurers' turnover, and whether these markets help reduce government spending. He also explores ways to improve insurer payment systems and investigates the public-private divide in health care financing and provision. His work applies  economic methods to rich administrative data from U.S. programs, such as Medicare Advantage and Medicaid Managed Care, as well as from Israel.

Previously, Eran was an economist in the Research Department at the Bank of Israel, where he conducted research and advised the government on health economics and public finance. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy (Economics Track) from Harvard University, and M.A. in Economics and B.Sc. in Computer Sciences from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
